Employee Spotlight: Charles Cardella
Meet Charles!
How long have you been working at Comsearch?
4 years
What inspires or excites you the most about working in this industry?
I have been in this industry since the 80’s. I have witnessed many changes and fads; it keeps you on your toes. I always laugh about the “new” photo estimating. Back in the day, it was common for a field appraiser to make the rounds, secure images, make notes, then find a shade under a tree to park under and complete the estimate off of the secured images and notes. What was old is new again.
What skills have you developed since joining the company?
I would have to say computer usage and literacy would be the top skills I have improved the most, as well as image interpretation. And communication as well. Working remote, there are no face to face meetings, or water cooler visits, so you learn to listen to someone’s voice more in depth enhancing the communication.
What is the best compliment or positive feedback have you received from a client/coworker/manager?
I have been called a “Rockstar”- that is what sticks out the most. Positive feedback is there if you earn it, it does not go unnoticed.
How do you balance your work and personal life?
I have to compliment Comsearch. I have worked for organizations that represent “as long as the work is done, we are not concerned with your comings and goings” only to find out that was not entirely accurate. With Comsearch, it is 100% accurate, which I appreciate greatly. Hats off to my leadership!
When you’re not working, what hobbies or activities do you enjoy?
I enjoy the outdoors and am an avid hunter. I have a camp in rural North Louisiana that I hunt out of in the winter. In the warmer months, it is anything from working with the tractor, building furniture, or working on completing the guest cabin and kitchen building.
How do you stay motivated and inspired in your role?
When you are appreciated and recognized for your efforts and hard work, that is a mighty motivator. It is truly an occupation; the more you put in, the more you get out, not only financially, but growing and learning.
What’s your favorite way to spend the day off?
Favorite way to spend a day off, hunting season in the woods, other times projecting at the camp or at home with my wife.
If you could have any fictional character as a colleague, who would it be and why?
Bugs Bunny – incredibly smart, wise, quick-witted and downright funny.
What was your very first job, and what did it teach you?
I was a stocker in a grocery store, which taught me to pay attention to instructions, and understand expectations.
