Employee Spotlight: Shaun Hazard

Shaun works with our IT/development group. While our clients don’t interface with that team, they have a huge impact on the experience of working with Comsearch. Shaun is behind many of our successful workflow integrations such as Guidewire Connect and custom enhancements for user friendly claims solutions.

1. How long have you been working at Comsearch?

This March will make four years at Comsearch.

2. What do you love about working in your industry?

I love solving problems. Technology is a great tool for solving problems and making people’s day-to-day lives easier, so I love getting to build tech solutions.

3. What is it like to work for Comsearch?

We build our tools and systems to suit our customer’s needs, so there’s always something new to work on.

4. What is something you find unique about Comsearch?

We have our own in-house development team, which makes us very agile when it comes to building things and fixing problems, but it also means I get to see the direct impact of what I do every day.

5. How would you describe your day to day at Comsearch?

My day is divided between watching for any issues or errors that come up with our existing systems, and working on whatever my current top priority project is. In between those two there’s also project planning for whatever comes next. Sometimes there are late nights when it’s time to deploy a new system or an update.

6. What’s something you miss about being in the office?

I miss being able to meet face to face with our managers and team members, although video conferencing technology has helped a lot there. One thing that technology unfortunately hasn’t been able to facilitate yet is company pizza parties.

7. What TV show are you currently binging?

Right now I’m working my way through Supernatural.

8. When you’re not working, how do you like to spend your time?

I’m a big fan of games that make me think, either board games or video games. When the weather is warmer I love going camping, it’s a great way to unplug and get away from my normal routine.

9. Before COVID-19 where was your favorite place to take a client out for lunch?

My go-to was hibachi because it’s a shared experience and a great lunch at the same time.

10. What’s a fun fact your employees might not know about you?

I love to bake, and my specialty is breadmaking.

11. What was your first job?

My first job as a teenager was telemarketing selling replacement windows, and it was awful!
